7 lbs. and counting

That's how much my midwife thinks the baby weighs right now. She estimates 1/2 lb. gain each week (the baby, not me!), putting the final weight at 8ish lbs. Right in line with my others. Baby's heart rate is holding steady in the mid-140's (not going to give us a hint to the sex) and the head is engaged and ready to go. I'm going to guess at May 13th. Now, if I could only think of a name.....

It's getting to be that time again.

I'm feeling like it's time to pull out the big guns--it's time for Pikes Peak-a-boo Purple on my toes. It's the color that I've painted my toes for the birth of all of my babies. The bottle is now 13 years old. Remarkable that it's kept so well. I've lent it out to women on both coasts with the promise of soon-to-be-begun labor. This nasty color is powerful stuff! It really is a horrible color--sort of blackish purple. The OB who delivered Madeline actually made a comment about how awful it was, sort of syonotic-looking. Now, if I can just reach my toes. To quote Jon: "Mama, you can still walk, but you just can't bend over."

I am a dental failure

There. I've admitted it. Dr. Kleen would be so disappointed in how I've turned out. I'm a disgrace. After all these years of dental success, I have officially entered into the club of bad teeth. Cavities? Yep, I have them. Root canals? Yes, I'm on my way. Crowns and caps? Just around the bend. This is me. I hang my head in shame.

Easter pictures

Jon dyeing eggs.

Outside egg dyeing. Too messy for inside!

Still dyeing eggs.

We decided that Chik-fil-a was a good choice for dinner on Saturday night. Too bad there aren't any in Oregon. Chik-fil-a is GOOD.

Jon Bakes a Cake

Last night, Jon decided he wanted to bake a cake. Specifically, he wanted to bake a chocolate cake with white frosting. And sprinkles. We baked the cake this morning, frosted it this afternoon, and ate it after Jack's baseball game.

Opening Day

Today was Jack's first baseball game. He pitched 1 inning and went 1 for 2, with 2 RBIs. The team won 8-5.

A funny story about shoes

I never buy shoes for the kids. Seriously. We do lots of barefooting, so shoes aren't totally necessary except when we leave the house. Because of this, each child has exactly 2 pairs of shoes, not including the ever-necessary pair of rubber boots. Call me neglectful--I'm okay with it.

The other evening, we ventured out to Peebles (our local department store: think Emporium) to find new shoes for spring/summer weather. After trying on at least 10 pairs each, we found shoes for the boys only. Pretty successful. Well, you can't even begin to imagine the uncontainable joy that Jon experienced. He wore the shoes to bed, all around the house the next several days (too rainy to wear them outside), everywhere. I've never seen a child, especially a boy, so happy about new shoes. How will he react when I replace his underwear?! And what about socks? The excitement is never ending at our house.

A new sandbox

With the nicer weather approaching, I thought we needed a sandbox to play in. A $10 kiddie pool from Walmart fits the bill nicely. It is a bit messy, but everyone seems to enjoy playing in it.

This blog has been hijacked

Madeline keeps stealing my posts and pictures. Not much to report besides what Madeline writes about. The basketball is now measuring regulation size. And I have to pee a lot.
